The Ritual

Mom goes to work at approximately the same time every day and comes home at about the same time every day. We girls appreciate the sameness of those things. When mom has to go in early or comes home late, our whole day is off.

The two of us have a ritual every evening when mom gets home. She does a couple of chores and then sits down in her recliner to watch the news or to read. She says elevating her legs for a bit helps with her rheumatoid arthritis, but I think she does it for a more important reason. Lap time!

I get to sit in her lap and she scratches my ears and chin and shoulders. Oh my is that good.

Yup, yup. That's the spot, right by that left ear there. I hang around for an hour or so and then mom has to get up and cook herself some supper. I don't know why she can't just eat the stuff she gives to us. We like it. I tell you what. When we don't have ear scratching and lap time in the afternoon after she comes home, I complain, loudly.

So, do you get special time daily for ear scratches or do you have to let your people know they have neglected their duties? It can take awhile to train these humans, don't you think?
