Finally Friday

This Cocoa of Grr, Midnight & Cocoa fame. Kind of an interesting effect as the photo was relit for moonlight and then cartoonized. This was done using PhotoSuite 4.0. Been just order an update for Photosuite, as she's been exploring some of the options in the program and having fun.

Unique as a Thumbprint: Cats don't have thumbs, but Craig Packer, Ph.D., professor at the University of Minnesota's Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior department, overseer of the Lion Research Center and author of Into Africa, reports that his team compares photo logs of whisker spot patters to identify individual lions in the wild.

Packer says "Lions, like other cats, are born with conspicuous vibrissae spots on either side of their muzzle that vary with each lion. Of 793 lions initially scored for whisker spot variation, 96 percent came up unique, concluding that vibrissae spots prove individual recognition in most field studies of lions."
