Maya on Thursday: Purrs for Cleo

Hi everyone,it's Maya here.

Just this past weekend,my mommy and daddy gave me
the great news that Cleo (who is my bestest furriend in the whole world)
was going to live with us forever, and be my sissy.
I was so happy and excited, and mommy even bought us
each a new collar, which makes us both look even
prettier than usual.

But on Monday, something horrible happened.Cleo and I are
allowed outside whenever we want, and on Monday,Cleo got
really hurt.
We don't know if she was bumped by a car,or if she
fell from the roof,or if maybe some evil person kicked her,
but she is in lots of pain, and can't walk that well.
Also, she doesn't want to really eat or drink anything, although
I know it must be real tough to eat
when everything is so sore right now.

The vet said we should keep an eye on her,and give her her pills
every day,but we are worried about her not eating.

Do you guys have any ideas what we can give her to eat or drink?

Cleo before the accident

Please send special purrs for Cleo,so that she will get well really soon.
I really miss having my sissy to play with.

OH MAYA,
I am sending purrs and prayers for Cleo.
If your mum has a syringe or an eye dropper, try to get some fluids into her.
Have you tried anything like tuna juice or baby food to entice her to eat?
Did your vet give you an idea if there are any internal injuries?
Keeping Cleo in our prayers,
Mo

Poor Cleo, we send her rumbly purrs to help her feel better. Hills AD (from the vet)is a good stinky and high calorie food for unwell cats. It can be easily warmed up so it tastes better and you can add water to it so it can be syringe fed too which will help her avoid being dehydrated. Chicken livers lightly fried in a little butter can really tempt a poorly puss to eat too, but small portions only as they are so rich. Does she have pain meds from the vet? Did the vet x ray her? We really hope poor Cleo feels better soon.

Oh no, poor Cleo!
I Second Hills A/D, from the Vet... It is very caloric, and the texture is great for force feeding... It is a great recovery food.
Baby food is good too (all meat, NO ONION, NO GARLIC), and plain boiled chicken and rice, finely shredded or put through a food processor. Try feeding her smaller meals, as often as you can...
Many vibes and puuurrrs for your girl!

Poor Sweet Cleo. We hope she's better furry soon! When we don't feel well and don't want to eat, mom takes some chicken or turkey gravy (real gravy) and mixes that with our dry kibble and blends it up into like a milkshake. We usually lap it all up. Feel better sweetie!!! Our healing purrayers are with you!

Oh no - we are sending tons of purrs and prayers to Cleo to get better. And we suggest baby food - just the plain meat kind (make sure no onions or anythign else bad). That usually is pretty popular with our kitties when they are not feeling good.

Juani - when I had a kitten who had internal injuries and had problems walking afterwards, keeping it hydrated was a big problem, which is why I suggested the eye dropper for fluids.
So glad Cleo is eating some. The other concern I had with that kitten was bowel movements. A tiny bit of olive oil or vegetable oil mixed in with the food might help. Nothing like a good BM to make someone (even a kitty!) feel better, ya know!
Hope Cleo is on the road to recovery!
love,
Mo

Healing purrs going out to sweet Cleo. We agree that syringe feeding would would help her, too ... warm water mixed with the food to help hydrate her.

When one of our kitties had been kicked by some neighborhood brats, we let him sleep on a heating pad on a low setting. It stopped his shaking and seemed to help him. We wish Cleo a speedy recovery.

Poor little cat. Purring for you.

Boiled chicken liver sliced very thin is nice. So is raw beef/carpaccio or sashimi.
