the kitchen window.

I am looking out at the snow,

and happy I am indoors!!!

As it is a nice day, I went out on the porch.

I like to just hang out and enjoy the sun.

The warm sun feels sooooooo nice

on my body,

So nice in fact, that I like to snooze!

I need to find a comfy position.

This seems comfy enough!!

Good!!! Now for a good snooze!!!!

I purr that you all find a comfy spot

and have a wonderful snooze today!!

Oh, one more thing, could you five some

BIG purrs to mom Laura and little Taffy.

Taffy has a problem with one of her eyes

and has to go to the Vet!!!

Oks, We back. Had a fun time wif all da fambily comin ..... well not all, but mos of dem, da ones we sees mostes was there. Dat were enough.
Us had a package frum da frens in da place da Large One call Texyus and it done smelled SOOO good lak. CatNip all over. It had books for da Small One, candies and chochy sticks and all, but dey all smelled lak CatNip. Large One grabbed the pakage wat was on top and hided it in the hole behinds da lil door up dere above da counter where we not can get to. Him said it were CatNip. I wuz mad at him but I don almos forgetted it since we gets our nip oftenz. Still, I looks up dere ofen and wonders iffin I can ...... maybes ...... somedayz .....
I hopez all of da House Panthers an oder kitties and da barkies and der Servunts for da HPs and barkies don had a great bunch of happy days and are resteded up for da new yearz. Da Mouskateers never gots tired, so we don needs to rest up no morn we allus does.
Now Large One gots pikturs of me tryin to gets comfybull in da lil boxxy what brung all da good tings to us on da gif day. Da brokitty Tegar done gived me lots of advize an encatouragement fromz da sidelines like while I wus havin fun till da Bossy Kitty, Buddy Bear comed in and decideded him wanted da boxy for hizselfs.
We has da box dere alladatime now. Everbodies takes turn sittin in it before takin overs da Large One's lappy for a nappy.

Wen da Buddy commed, I gived him da box and took a Large One's lappy lak I sed, and went sleepy. Dat CatNip packs a wholloppy kicks you betcha.

I will not let it get by me this year. I will get MY say in concerning the last holiday of the year. And here it is!

I, The KnightOwl, the humble servant of the most right orneyrable and fussybutted House Panther, one MikiCato want to take our turn in wishing you all the best of the New Year to come. We've had many wonderful things happen to us this year just ending, and YES, we have had some very unhappy things happening, but all in all, we're still here, you are still here, and we will see this one to an end, and then the new one begun. Life is good, the Cats and Dogs and Birds and all the other delightful little creatures that populate our world and demand our every waking moments attention, are good.

MikiCato does not know what it means Happy New Year, or DOES HE?
I wonder about that a lot lately!
He does know he doesn't like the fireworks, and will run to me and try
to crawl into me. It's a really sad, scared little kitty that looks up at me.
But we make it through, and we have fun and we celebrate with all the others.
I know he wishes everyone has as much fun as he, his sissfurs and brofurrs do
each and every year we do this end of year hell raising blowout.

So let there be Peace, Love and Happiness to all. Be safe, stay warm and dry, and don't forget the little outsiders, both domesticated and feral. Baby, it's COLD outside.

As you can see, I am having a nice

little nap.I got to have fun with Mom when she

stayed home Sunday. After lots of fun,a nap is good.

But!!! You know how it goes. Moms think you

look "cute" and drag out that darn flashy box!

Who can nap with flashing lights?!!

Come on Mom!! Adjust your camera so

it does not flash!!!!

Gee!!! Now I'm wide awake!

Well, I guess I will get up and check

around the house to see what I can find.

Maybe a mouse will sneak indoors and we can

have lots of fun!!!

Holiday Gift Plant Reminder

The ASPCA lists many common plants that are considered highly toxic to pets, including many given as gifts during the Holiday Season. My added text is in red.

Pointsettias
Irritating sap, can cause irritation to the mouth and stomach, sometimes causing vomiting, but generally over-rated in toxicity.
Keep any fallen leaves and petals picked up, and if your cat gnaws on the plant, put it into an out-of-reach place. I've found that usually one taste of the milky sap is enough to keep cats from chewing on Pointsettias.

Lilies
Members of the Lilium spp. are considered to be highly toxic to cats. While the poisonous component has not yet been identified, it is clear that with even ingestions of very small amounts of the plant, severe kidney damage could result.

Many types of oriental lilies are included in flower arrangements, and the Easter Lily shows up in the spring in grocery stores to tempt us with its bright white petals and fragrance. However, this is one flower that should be kept well-away from cats because of the danger to feline kidneys. Any lilies in fresh flower arrangements also can be dangerous to house pets!

Azalea/Rhododendron
Members of the Rhododenron spp. contain substances known as grayantoxins, which can produce vomiting, drooling, diarrhea, weakness and depression of the central nervous system in animals. Severe azalea poisoning could ultimately lead to coma and death from cardiovascular collapse.
Another popular flowering plant that shows up in grocery stores and florists year 'round, azaleas come in many colors and are very tempting to purchase as a quick gift. Keep azaleas outside as a landscape plant. They are deer-resisitant to deer for a reason!

Cyclamen
Cylamen species contain cyclamine, but the highest concentration of this toxic component is typically located in the root portion of the plant. If consumed, Cylamen can produce significant gastrointestinal irritation, including intense vomiting. Fatalities have also been reported in some cases.
Who can resist this flowering house plant in the grocery store? Well, you should. Not only is it toxic, but because almost all cyclamen plants are prone to mite infestations, the plants are drenched in insecticides by the florist industry - insecticides that are treated to remain on the leaves to keep the mites off - these insecticides can rub off the leaves and make humans and pets ill if ingested, making the plants a no-no in my book.

Kalanchoe
This plant contains components that can produce gastrointestinal irritation, as well as those that are toxic to the heart, and can seriously affect cardiac rhythm and rate.
Okay, this one I did not know about until I read it on the ASPCA website. I grew up with cats and kalanchoes living in harmony, and no cat I ever had tried to chew the fleshy succulent leaves. These plants are very popular in the mass-market florist trade because their long-blooming sturdy flowers can handle transportation and have a very long shelf-life. Found year-round at almost every grocery store's florist nook, they're great houseplants, but keep them where cats cannot reach them.

Amaryllis
Common garden plants popular around the holidays, Amaryllis species contain toxins that can cause vomiting, depression, diarrhea, abdominal pain, hypersalivation, anorexia and tremors.
My favorite blooming houseplant of all-time. The flowers usually aren't attractive to cats to eat, and neither are the floppy, strappy leaves. I have had both amaryllis and cats for years. My advice - just keep the leaves up away from cats, and provide cat grass as a more tempting alternative to nibble upon. If you don't feel like taking care of the bulb after it has bloomed, give it to a gardening friend who can cherish it.

Chrysanthemum
These popular blooms are part of the Compositae family, which contain pyrethrins that may produce gastrointestinal upset, including drooling, vomiting and diarrhea, if eaten. In certain cases depression and loss of coordination may also develop if enough of any part of the plant is consumed.
The common mum. As cut flowers and seasonal potted plants, it is hard to get away from a mum. Pyrethins are used as insecticides, so best to keep mums away from nibblers!

Peace Lily (AKA Mauna Loa Peace Lily)
Spathiphyllum contains calcium oxalate crystals that can cause oral irritation, excessive drooling, vomiting, difficulty in swallowing and intense burning and irritation of the mouth, lips and tongue in pets who ingest. Many years ago, Spooker chewed on some Peace Lily leaves and got blisters on her lips and gums, so I know first-hand that this common houseplant can be harmful. If you have it in your home, be aware that it has the potential to be hazardous.

Hi!! Tillie here to tell you about the weekend.

Mom went to her sister's home near

Wolfville, but up high on the mountain.

There are nice views up there,so Mom says.

Mom and her two sisters then went to visit

Grandbean.

On the way to Grammie's house, they stopped

at a place called Halls Harbour to take pictures.

Some beans were decorating this tree which is on

a wharf. You can see in the background,

that the tide is out.

The tree was put next to a lighthouse

that is a "wishing well"

Maybe they want good luck when the boats

go out to catch fish and lobster.

Mmmmmmmm!! I would wish them luck if I

could have some of their catch! Heehee!

Yesterday it was sunny and not too cold,

so Mom put up the outdoor lights.

She puts tree cuttings on the railings so the lights

show up better.

The railing out front is quite long.

Looks quite festive

especially at night!

Looks good Mom, now,how about some

scritches?

Can you believes it? Dis de furs day of December, jus 24 more days till all da good eats you can has will be on da tables and da kitchen and da whole house smell lak good eatin. Even us kitties will has good stuffs ta eats. I tinks dis year da Large One be in a betterer mood den years past. We is workin on gettin him dat way. Small One say him might make it afer all.
Us not gots much to talks about, cept maybes da snow we had da oder day. Had some big ole fat chunks of dat cold white stuff falllin down, but it onlies stayed overnights. Just covered da car. But dat were went by 9 da nex mornin.
Da fun rooms is gots threads and yarns all overs. Small One in a big tizzy knittins and sewins and makin tings for da Lil One, da lil Morgan. She be five soon, but she still love da Sandy Claws unner da tree and all dat, so Small One make pretties for her.
We talks more bout da holeyday fixins and stuff nex time. Rat now we just say for everones to look to da outside kitties and doggies, and da oder little critters what you has outside all da times. Makes sure dey gots a warm, dry, place to sleeps and keeps outta da rains and snows, and sees dat dey gots lots of fresh water what not freezed up. Don forgets da food too. It would be bestes if all da little ones could be insides da buildins wif some heat lak our Ms Princess and Ms Smokey. Dey gots da laundry room all to derselves wif heat lamp and a big tick heavy blankey over da lil entrance to keeps the warm inside.

Hi, I'm MikiCato's servant, the one he calls Large One. I'm doing the honors today since our star reporter is otherwise occupied, and seemingly disinterested in anything but himself. Typical Cat activities lately. Anyway, here goes ......

Wonder what would happen if I changed that title up there? I keep forgetting how Miki worded it and have to go copy and paste (can't remember it long enough to hop over here to the post section and type it). Well, I could leave well enough alone and let MikiCato do his own work couldn't I? Nah, not in my nature.

This would probably be the 'look' I would get from the little
rapscallion, since he is so serious about his duties as guard
and protector of all things Five Oaks Manor, SouthWoodsUSA™.

We're supposed to have a 'theme' today, a 'subject of conversation, either written or photographed, but for the likes of me all I can think of is ....... well, there's nothing there. Miki is busy (again) as you can see, taking care of business with the kitty sandman, or whatever you wanna call it.

This being my computer chair, I had to wait a good half hour before
I was once again gifted with my seat (replete with a very warm spot).
Something went bump down the hall in the fun room, and himself
just had to go see to the investigation and possible correction of
any and all confusion and disturbances said 'bump' might
have inadvertently caused.

Right now, I'm thinking I will let this post go with one last shot of our little hero kitty, MikiCato. This little guy being MY kitty, MY shadow, MY armful, and I must add here, MY headache, I am quite attached to him, or should I reverse that, him being the perfect example of the title 'Velcro Kitty'?

If I can just has a minutes to clean da sleep offn mysleves.
Geez, I doesn't sees where da time goes. I postes one week's
posk, takes a short nap or threes, and it time to make another

We will leave it at that. This cat definitely needs some special care. Wonder if I can afford a 'cat shrink'? Probably have to pay the poor shrinks cost of having to visit a 'cat shrink shrink' after he has a session with MikiCato.
Next time I'll leave this post to the House Panther they call 'Da Mik'!

We are back on the Blogs again. Hopefully we will not be falling off the schedule from here on.
No major news, no new story, just a Hello to all, and a wish for a great weekend ahead. MikiCato and the boys and girls of the 6 Mouskateers of Five Oaks Manor are all well, as is our Small One. I, the Large One am getting better as the days go along. It's not the age, it's the mileage, and the arthritis and all those other hard to pronounce 50¢ words the Drs throw at us laymen and women.
Here, today, I would just like to break away, a mite, from the Cat theme of the blog, to post one banner in my salute to tomorrow's celebrations for the Canadians and The Colonials. Here's to a job well done by those who served 'over there', then and now. Would that all could have returned home.

Mom was away this weekend!!

She went to visit Grammie.

Grammie has some big holly bushes.

They have lots of bright red berries too.

Mom's brother started a small vineyard this year.

The plants did very well.It will be a few more years

before he will harvest grapes.

He works at a nearby vineyard.

While I am happy Mom visited family,

I could not wait for her to come back!

I needed to tell her I won a contest!!!!!

Yup!! The Halloween contest over at

Halloween Spooktacular!!!

I won the "Most Resistance to Wearing a Costume"category!!!I did not like wearing a costume and ran all around the house ,then tried to back out of it!While I am very happy to win, I hope I do not have to wear any more clothes!!!!Mom was pretty excited, heeheeMe too!!!

She went with her sister to an event

called Nocturne, where you look at

artsy stuff at night, in the dark!

This is Ursa Major or, the Great Bear.

It's leg is hanging down, because it was

pretty windy when the event first started.

You can see how the bear was suspended and

how the lights represent the constellation.

You can also see his leg hanging ;)

This exhibit was in the courtyard of

Halifax Citadel Parade Square.

They also saw this man making glass ornaments at

Nova Scotian Crystal.

They were out very late,but I think they had fun.

I think sunbeams were better!!!!!! Heehee!!

Ever Had a Catnip Party? I'm sure you all have at least seen or heard of one. Well here's a private one, one MikiCato had over at Five Oaks Manor, SouthWoodsUSA one day a couple years ago. On rare occasion I take the liberty of adding a bit of verse or a quote that I think goes with one of the photos I managed to catch of my little House Panther, MikiCato. This is one of those times.

Lately the little cat has been hanging close to me,

sticking close almost like a Velcro patch, not that I mind,

but it worries me. He is the one who tried to tell me,

the night I before I went to the Emergency Room

with major problems.

Again, he was there telling me when I had to go for the

heart thing. Long story short: I am worried about him.

He is only 8 years old, but lately he acts much older,

is not spending much time at play, just lazing around,

dull coated, eyes sometimes vacant looking.

Methinks my little ManCat is getting old.

The others give him his share of room and attention,

and he always has my back, but .....

Maybe I'm seeing too many reports and stories of folks' pets

growing old, getting sick and such .....

Still, MikiCato is with us, he's right now on my left

on the desk close beside me with his little paw on my left arm.

Life is good at Five Oaks Manor, SouthWoodsUSA.

Jet Dragon

This is Jet Dragon guarding the computer, waiting for Mom to come use it.

Jet liked to tunnel under the covers of the bed. Here he used his laser eyes to warn intruders.

Jet sleeping the day away in peace, getting rested for mayhem to come.

Sleeping with his best buddy, Venus Purrl. The most common place to find him.

"Where is the computer, Mom? I guess I'll just hang out here until it shows up."

My personal little yin and yang. If they had swapped coat colors, Jet would have been totally yang, Venus yin. Their personalities were so different, but they (mostly) got along together.

Today would have been, Jet Dragon, my little house panther's eleventh birthday.

Jet died suddenly from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

that we didn't know he had,on December 3, 2010.

He followed Venus,for whom he grieved deeply,

,just nine months after she left, also unexpectedly,

for the Bridge.

I miss them in the depths of my soul; they were a part of my life for so many years. Jet's insistant "YOW!", his curious nature. Nothing new entered the house without receiving a thorough review within seconds. His deep multi-toned purr against my chest at night. The toy fur mice that he would carry about the house by the tail. Or the special catnip mouse that he carried off and hid, never to be seen again. His direct way of going after what he wanted at top speed. I knew, when those big green eyes met mine from the carrier, that it was love at first sight. I will love you both furrever!

A Story from out of the past.

A story about our little House Panther, MikiCato and his Riding Horsey/Thingie/Whatever!

One upon a day one time not too many years way back ago ...... It was a relatively quiet afternoon. Everyone was relaxing in the fun room of Five Oaks Manor deep in the SouthWoods. Miki was scrabbling around the foot rest/riding horse/cat play thing when Buddy walks in all inquisitive and nosy .....

Buddy Bear says ... "Whas wrong wif da ridey horsey thing lil Bro?"

MikiCato says... "I just checking ..... sometim been rattllin under dere"

Buddy says... "Did you maybe be shakin your head when you went under dere?

Dat could be where da rattliln comin from yaknows?"

Miki says... "You make fun of me agin Big Bro I hides my head an cries!"

Buddy says... "It nothing to loose your head overs Bro! Still

you looks good when you hides da head dat way.

Don scare da mousies wif da look you gots den!"

Miki says... "I allays gets interrupteded when I go to make da ridey horsey

bed looks an works betterer!"

Buddy Says... "It look good enough when no on one it, why tryies to mess

wif Mother Natures and da beans what boughted it for us kitties an go tears it up?"

Miki says... "Still I says I heared rattlin when I wen under dere ..... I knows I did!"

Buddy says... "Das just somethin you make up so we feels sorries for yourselves an

you gets to ride da thingie first. Is not fair acktuallie, cause you allays falls asleep up dere."

The Large one here! "I think the riding horse thing we found at the Flea Market one day a few years back was a great success with Miki. Not sure Buddy, Tegar and Rowdy got much fun out of it. That little House Panther was always on or under the thing, scrabbling around, lazing, snoozing ..... well mostly snoozing! Maybe that's why the other ManCats didn't mess with it. He was always sleeping on it."

Today I talks bout da Large One and his flashy/clicky box and all da times he done shoved dat thang in my face/muzzle. I gets all googgledy eyed when dat ting make wif da sunlight blink. So, da las time he done made it flashy in my eyes I don gived him an ultematimum type warnin/threat. Not sure it sunked into dat big hairless ole head, but did is what I did.

I wuz protectin my bed linens/blankies in da laundry baskit

when da Large One popped da blinky ting in my eyeballs.

I gived him da look

But he done squatted down byside dat baskit

and I knowed rat dere he were gonna make blinky agin.

So I went into my speachy ting.

Acorse I knows him don't unnerstands kitty talk

so I did the big Mime bit. I good at mime aktually.

I sed to himself I sed "You seez dis paw I holds up here?

Les me shows you somethin bout dis paw."

"Dis paw gots a sekret button thingy built in

so when I gets mad and don wans no more

of somethin or somebodies.

I just aks lak I be washin my tootsie,

when acktually I is pushin da button."

Havin sed dat, I did push da secret button,

an at da same times I puts on da 'I whops old butt' face.

Well, as all cats knows, when da secret button be pushed,

out comes da secret wepons, da CLAWS.

I seys to da Large One I seys,

"Clicks one more times in my face and I use dese

Ninja Kitty weapons on YO face!

Now Skatz!"

Corse I wont use dem on hims, but hims don knows dat.

Well him done gots up, backeded up a bit, sitted down in hims chair at the beans eaty table, and said to da Small One, "You know I don't think he likes me using the camera Hon! Maybe YOU should take the snaps from now on."

We tried ta post here all week, but tings jus don wanna gives us time. One times we even losted da piktures, but now we here, just to make sures we still gots da keys to da place.

Da Small One (my Pretty One) and da Large One (my Lapdaddy) been busy taking care of us 6 Mouskateers, tryin to keep da heat away from us, seeins dat we don gets sicks. Dey been havin troubles demselves, but sofars all is okydokey!

Hi there.I hope you all had a good weekend.

I had a good one,and enjoyed some sunshine!

As you may have read on our regular blog,

Mom went to the Vet,to help them

celebrate their 2nd anniversary

Their office is within walking distance.

I'm not sure I like that too much.

They also have a mobile hospital to visit

communities that are not close to a Vet's office.

It's good to know that pets can have access to a Vet

even if it's a couple of times a week.

When Mom got back, she had a bag of

stuff for us! There were treats(gone already)

booklets for Mom and two toys!!!

See this flea!!! I am going to beat him up!!

Nom,nom,rar,chew!!!!!

This is the best kind of flea!! Heehee

That flea toy does not make me ichy,

The Large One (my big server, aka. Roy) told me I should be on my best behavior here, and that I couldn't talk no normal (read here Kitty) talk in front of everbodies. Him said I has to talk good old Redneck Southren Country Bean talk. So I will tries to make like I knows what I'm doin.

Guess I must make a short like introduktion of myself and where I comes from now, Huh?

OK, I be da number #2 kitty in da Manor House (dats Five Oaks Manor) down in da SouthWoodsUSA country in NE Mississippi! When I says #2 I means I was da second kitty rescued and I also is da second oldest of 6 kitties here. Well, we don know acktually what Miss Princess' age is (she #5 kitty), but we kinda thinks she be older than Buddy Bear who is #1. Ah, dat's another story for another time. You will all learn who is who soon enough. Oh, Miss Princess is a Mississippi long hair black kitty (part Persian/Angora/we donknow what else, so maybe she can pass for a House Panther. She also one of two kitties who walked up to the back door from up the road and acrost on the other side, and stayed. That was over 7 years ago.) Confused now? Hopes Not!

Anyways, here I be, and there's no way I can does a long post like my Bean, unless of course he lets me. So we'll do some piktures, OK?

How to be a Gargoyle by ~Miss Bella~

Hello brother and sister house panthers...today, I'm going to show you how to be the perfect gargoyle. A gargoyle? Yes, you heard me correctly. You know those ugly looking creatures that hang out in high places leering and grimacing down at everyone?

Well, acting like a gargoyle is perfect for panthers who love to stalk and scare their humans. Here, I'll demonstrate how I do it...

First, find the right place that's high enough to peer down..See my place on top of a bookshelf?

I pretend that I am the queen of the castle and ignore everything and everyone below me...

By now my mother starts screeching at me to "get down NOW, Miss Bella!" You know how humans can get, so I cooly look at her with disdain...

And what really frustrates her is when I start washing myself to show her, I'll come down when I'm good and ready..

But, then she throws up her paws in the air and walks away from me, muttering and saying impolite things that I won't repeat here, because I'm a lady...I start to worry a little and tell her; "O.k. mom, I'm ready to come down, can you please help?"

And with a sigh, she gets up on this thing called a "step-ladder" she grabs me in her arms and my playing "gargoyle" comes to an end. Well, I pounce up on a smaller table that's not so high so I can retain at least a little dignity as a kitty gargoyle...

I hope you've all enjoyed my lessons on how to be a gargoyle. Now go out there and scare your humans...

Miss Bella working on my tan...

Hi brothers and sisters,
Miss Bella here, and today I'd like to show you how I soak in the rays and work on my tan...

First, I make myself as comfortable as possible when lying on my lounge.

Then I make sure my paws are lined up perfectly for the maximum sun exposure..(and yes, my mom makes me wear sun screen but I told her it has to be invisible so that my fans don't catch me with white gunk all over me. Very unglamorous, if you know what I mean!)

Ahhh, the warmth of the sun, always makes me relax and I pretend that I'm in some exotic location listening to birds and dreaming of catnip filled days..you know, like that show "Paw styles of the Rich and Famous."

After a while, I want to fully stretch out, so I lay on the ground, just so...

Oh-oh, the pawparazzi have spotted me, it's time to go! So much for a star like me trying to get some privacy..sigh.

The one that got away...

Hello, brother and sister house panthers...It is I, Miss Bella again to share with you a story about the "one that got away" grrrrrrrr......

I was perched upon my favorite cliff hangout, when I heard IT... one of those little twitter thingy's with wings that I always want to eat. It was right outside, taunting me...

I started clacking at it "keh keh, keh", letting it know that I was onto it, I was ready to pounce on him. Then my sister, Sele, heard the hunting call and she joined me on the ledge...

I don't like it when she tries to hone in on my prey, so I kicked her off, even though mom doesn't like it when I do that. I mean, come on, what does she think she is? Cats hunt alone and we don't like to share our treasures, right?

So, back to planning on how I was going to capture this twitter nuisance.

It came closer unaware of my presence...My eyes focused on every detail of it, knowing that it was going to be mine soon...

And then blast it all, it saw me and flew away from me...this annoyed me to no end!

Oh well, what's a cat to do, other than plot one's revenge for the next time?

Until we talk again, brother's and sister's, stay sharp and be ready to pounce when the time is right....

big brother Mickey went to the Bridge.

I sure do miss him.

I miss him so much. He was a friendly,calm

easy going boy. Took things in stride.

He was my calm when I was upset,

my silly boy when I needed a laugh.

He was a great friend and companion.

After 17 years,it is hard to let go.

You want them to live forever.

He is in a happy place.

It is those left behind that have to adjust.

Until we meet again sweet boy...

Archie, the beautiful young panther cat at Felted House, was killed by a car this morning. His mum, who is a wonderful craftsperson (felter) in the UK, is terribly distraught. She also recently lost her own mother, after various health issues. Purrs would be appreciated. Thank you. ~Fuzzy Tales

The importance of sleep...

Hello brother and sister house panthers...
I've had so much fun getting to know all of you and meeting other gorgeous panther cats like myself. We are the most beautiful, are we not? And I know all of YOU know how important it is to get beauty sleep. So, today I'd like to share with you, how rudely I'm interrupted by my mom when I try to get refreshed.

First, when my mother wakes up, I climb back into MY bed and snuggle back down into the blankets.

I love the comfort of re-arranging of the blankets, just the way I want too. But then, my mother has the audacity to remove me from my blanket nest, so that she "makes the bed" (her words, not mine) and that upsets my whole sleeping routine, so I always shoot her a dirty look to see if she'll changer her mind, but it never works.

So, finally after much grumbling, I'm finally awake...

I show her how displeased I am that she makes me get out of my bed.

After she apologizes me, I get back to the important matter of sleeping and prepare myself for a cat nap.

I start to tune out any annoyances from either my sister, Sele or my mother..I move around the bed a bit to find just the right spot to sleep, but I can feel my eyes closing...

And finally when everything is peaceful, I go back to sleep and forget the world...

So, the important lesson here, is don't let your humans distract you from the important things in life, like sleep. With enough determination, nothing can stop we cats from getting what we want, which is to sleep.

Miss Bella's Beauty Routine

Hello again, brother and sister house panthers, it is I Miss Bella who greets you today to talk about my beauty routine. Naturally, a cat, especially one's like us, don't need much to look beautiful, but my mother insisted on making me show to you, how I groom myself to perfection (as if I needed anything else other than to be my gorgeous, diva self!).

First, I check to see that I won't be bothered by anyone during this very important ritual..

I then start with my paws, as they make sure every hair is purrfectly cleaned...

I always make sure, I clean between my claws and remove any annoying mats that might be lurking...

I then go onto clean my beautiful face that has launched a thousand cat ships...yes, Helen of Troy had nothing on me!

We all know how graceful and agile we cats are, so these next few poses demonstrate our poise...I lift my leg in the air like a purrfect ballerina...

Our tails as you all know represent our cattitude in life and we must always make sure, it shines and looks its best...

Really, all of this is exhausting to do, brothers and sisters, so I get ready for my beauty sleep...notice my eyes softly gazing as they start feeling heavier and heavier.

I feel them slowly closing ready to dream...

I make sure I get as comfortable as I can, while always being mindful of how beautiful I am as I delicately stretch out...

Sleep finally beckons to me and I surrender, dreaming about how wonderful I am...

My mother envies me I know with my dark and lustrous fur, but that's the plight of humans, isn't it? Not all of us are fortunate enough to be cats.

She is located in Greenville SC.

She is a beautiful black cat, but instead of helping, people have been laughing at her, making fun of her.

This sweet girl deserves a loving forever home.

She is 18-months old, disease free, spayed, with all shots.

She is very shy because most humans have not treated her kindly.

She only has a short time before she will be released back into the feral colony.

Ollie's blog has moved

Because of some of the bizarre problems I've been having with Blogger, I finally decided that Ollie's blog was going to have to move.

We've moved it over to Wordpress on our own domain.

We were able to move all the archived posts and comments so those have come with us. We've also left the blog intact on Blogger, but have closed comments.

Ollie's blog will still feature Sunday with Ollie, Tuesday's Artful Cats, Black Cat Friday (we need submissions!!), and some sort of shelter cat feature, though I'm not sure exactly how that's going to change.

The RSS feed will change tomorrow to point to the new site, but do come visit us now, and bookmark us if you haven't already!

My introduction and greetings to you all...I am Miss Bella

Greetings, my sister and brother house panthers...
This is my first post to you and I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself, before I share one of my most important jobs I undertake...

The name my human mother gave me is; "Miss Bella" but we all know that we cats have our own secret names which cannot be shared with humans, so this I keep secret. My sister, Sele (rhymes with "belly") and I came from a place where other cats waited for adoption. My mother saw my sister and I playing when in our cage when we were seven weeks old and knew that we had come into our life for a purpose.

I am all black (as you'll see, except I have a white diamond patch on my chest) which is why we all share the distinction of being "house panthers" and my sister, is what's known as a "tuxedo" kitty, (although I don't even know what a tuxedo is.)

We are very loved and indulged which of course is a cats right, isn't it? Today I'd like to share with you, how I am known as the "dread lizard queen" as I hunt these creatures who stalk our house. I am the huntress of the family and therefore my job is of utmost importance. My sister is the "cuddly" one and if I'm in the mood and feel like bestowing my mother with the gift of sitting on her lap, it is only on my terms..

First, I cooly gaze upon the hill in our backyard where these lizard dragons like to hide...

I have to climb this hill so that I can see any activity of the lizards before I stalk them...I sit on top of the humans who live next doors, trash can as the cool queen that I am...

There, a ha! The first lizard to be taken down...

This lizard will not escape my terrible clutches now. Notice my fierce claws ready to pierce the dragon lizard...

I can see it shaking and trembling as I gaze closer at it...

Drat it, this dragon lizard has buried itself deeper into the abyss, so it is lost for me today..Only today though. And so I saunter back to enter my house domain, knowing that this is not failure, merely mercy that I have granted today.

With one last look, I tell the lizards they have not won the war, they have just escaped with their lives for today..

My mother praises me and thanks me for my courage and ability to protect our house. My sister not liking to hunt anything, mumbles a quiet note of gratitude and I slink back into the house. Ready for my cat nap and dream of my next adventure with the dragon lizards..

Life is good when you're a house panther, isn't it?

And so my brother and sisters, I wait to meet all of you, so that we can honor together the privilege of being a house panther. I am grateful to have found all of you.

My mother has a blog where my sister and I blog with our mother who is a witch. The good type of course. We hope that you visit us there and get to know us better.

It pulled in the driveway, then backed out.

I think they were left there for Mickey.
