Valentine's Flowers Caution
Sending and giving flowers is a popular Valentine ritual. Just a word of caution on the flowers: many of the popular flowers in the florist trade can be toxic to cats.
Roses are fairly safe, so long as they haven't been sprayed with pesticides. However, any type of lily or tulip - basically anything that grows from a bulb - is very toxic to cats!
And be VERY careful about those little pots of crocus appearing in grocery stores right now, to tempt us out of the winter doldrums - their grassy-but-toxic leaves are way too tempting for cats!
If you do have live flowers in your house, the best bet is to put them somewhere that your pets cannot reach them.
For a full list of the most-toxic plants to cats, as identified by the ASPCA, please visit this link where I discuss them in more detail.

Hello, Black!

Hi there, I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Black, not very original but that is what my silly human named me. I was found with my two brothers and sisters in the hood of a car and the people called our Mom because they had found out that she was a crazy cat lady. So she took the four of us in, and let us stay in her guest room so as feral kitties, we became really tame. We were only 4 weeks old when we were found.
I became the human's favorite because I was a little sick when I was a baby. I am fine now but I am really a sweet boy. Although I can be very naughty. I am in the naughty club too. There is a picture here of me here, shredding a roll of toilet paper. But it isn't my fault, my brother taught me how to do it.
I have a twin here at the farm and I am sure he is probably related in some ways. His name is BeBop, and he is pure black just like me. Our human will write about him when we can get some better pictures of him. Also he really is a feral kitty. He will let Mom pat him but is as far as it goes.
So hope all of you have great day and I will be back to post some more later.

Maya on Thursday: Purrs for Cleo
Hi everyone,it's Maya here.
Just this past weekend,my mommy and daddy gave me
the great news that Cleo (who is my bestest furriend in the whole world)
was going to live with us forever, and be my sissy.
I was so happy and excited, and mommy even bought us
each a new collar, which makes us both look even
prettier than usual.
But on Monday, something horrible happened.Cleo and I are
allowed outside whenever we want, and on Monday,Cleo got
really hurt.
We don't know if she was bumped by a car,or if she
fell from the roof,or if maybe some evil person kicked her,
but she is in lots of pain, and can't walk that well.
Also, she doesn't want to really eat or drink anything, although
I know it must be real tough to eat
when everything is so sore right now.
The vet said we should keep an eye on her,and give her her pills
every day,but we are worried about her not eating.
Do you guys have any ideas what we can give her to eat or drink?
Cleo before the accident
Please send special purrs for Cleo,so that she will get well really soon.
I really miss having my sissy to play with.
