Finally!

I thought I was gonna have to scratch out someone's eyes. I mean, seriously, NTM printed three pictures of ME to make into greeting cards for his Etsy shop like a week ago, but there they sat by the printer...
Finally, I put THE BITEY on him and he got his butt in gear!
Now there are THREE cards on BellisiMo that feature ME!!!

Oh, and since we now have another lovely Isis here at House Panthers, I'm gonna go back to calling myself Little Isis here, since that's my Facebook name anyways, okay?
Now, go check out my cards on Bellisimo!
Meow for now,
Little Isis

RIP Sweet Bonnie

It's always sad when a family member passes away, but house panther Bonnie was such an integral part of Whimpurr's Whim, being Whimpurr's first rescue kitty, that this sad news is especially difficult to hear.
For the full article of Bonnie, please visit Wimpurr's Whim.
We here at House Panthers wish Bonnie peace at the Rainbow Bridge, and send HUGS and PURRS to Whimpurr and her family.

House Panthers Publicity

isis

Yesterday, NTM was interviewed on the phone by a reporter about House Panthers!
The reporter wanted to know about how SUPERIOR and CLEVER black cats are, and how the myths of black cats being unlucky are just poppycock!
Okay, NTM didn't say poppycock to the reporter, he said something about 'debunking myths' but I think poppycock is a good word to use when people diss black cats!
The reporter isn't for a particular news service, but for a syndicated news company, so any newspaper or magazine or radio station might pick it up. NTM was careful to ask that our House Panthers blog be mentioned in his article.
If we hear any more about an article that comes from the interview, we'll keep you posted.
Meow for now,
Isis

Maya on Tuesday: Staying cool

You see that fan in the background of my first picture? It's broken! Can you believe that?!
It's hot, hot, hot summer right now,and what else can a girl do,except lie around on
the cool tiles, while mommy and daddy try to cool off under our other fan.

Note from Mommy: Don't let these pics fool you,Maya is definitely not scared of the heat, and still spends most of her
time running around outside, and sleeping under the plants in the garden. Also, she and Cleo and Ogies
have been on a hunting spree, killing 2 mice in the last 2 days.Don't know which one
of the 3 is the culprit, but I'm guessing it was a team effort ;)

Olde Furt Alex

Hello Panther followers! This is a photo of our older (and I mean OLDer) brother Alex. He was pretty active on Catster, which some of you may know. He was in the group Olde Furts as an admin for awhile. Alex went to the bridge a couple years ago at the ripe old age of 23. It was before we started blogging. He would have LOVED to blog. He was VERY chatty. He would have been on House Panthers all the time.

Speaking of chatty, I KNOW that there are more House Panthers out there besides Sammy (from Sammy & Andy) & Cory & me. Remember that Little Isis challenged us to post here everyday? Come on Panthers! Let's make some noise on this bloggie! xoxo, Raymond

Pod Panther

Hello Panthers, Panther lovers and Wish-I-Was-a-Panther cats! I hear it's very cold in most parts of the blogosphere. I am holing up in my House Panther Pod in solidarity with all of my friends who live in cold parts of the world.
Should I mention that we are heading for a high of 67 F here in Capitola, CA today? Hmmm, probably not.

Stay warm friends! xo, Raymond

Cory- Mom's Fingers Taste Good

post signature

My sister Ginger is going to be gossiping about me today...on my very own blog!  I sank my little tooth into my mom's finger.  I was all purry and cute and she was petting me...then one thing led to another and I was rubbing my face on her finger and then....chomp!  She had to go to the human v-e-t...I felt so bad.   You can see the little hole...I just sank it in and pulled it out.

I was just trying to go back to my childhood and recreate the image of cuteness...me as a baby kitten nibbling on mom's finger.  I had no idea that sinking my fang into her flesh would cause such a fuss.  I did it ever so gently...really.  It was a love bitey.  I purred on my mom when she got home.  She still loves me.

Calling All House Panthers!

isis in the mist

My challenge to all House Panthers (and their human typists) for 2010 is to post a blog post here on our House Panthers site at least ONCE A MONTH.
Your post doesn't have to be a prize-winning essay, we love anything posted here!  A picture - even a blurry one - or an update on what's going on in your life, or even a re-post of something about you from your own blog.
With all the House Panthers we have here, we should be having at least a post a day, right?
What do you think?
Meow for now,
Little Isis

Panther Loses Her Last 4 Teeth

The following is a copy of a blog post
from the "Homeless Cat Care" blog:

Panther is a really sweet abandoned cat who arrived at my door some time in 2008. When I had her spayed, the vet recommended removal of most of her teeth due to severely advanced tooth decay. So, for a while now, she has had only her 4 canines.
Recently, a different vet gave Panther cortisone for her Caleci virus symptom, throwing up. For one of our indoor cats, TigerLily, this treatment has prevented vomiting for nearly 4 months. For Panther, it lasted only 3 weeks. Then, due to repeat office visits for routine shots, I discovered Panther had lost weight. This is likely due to the fact that daily she lost at least one of her meals to vomiting.
The vet showed me the bright red from Caleci at the base of Panther's four teeth. He said that if I had them pulled, it would be likely that the Caleci virus would become less active since it would lose the area where it was thriving. She was not using those teeth anyway since she does not have to rip or tear meat. So I became convinced that it would be good to have them removed. I will be more protective of her now since she has lost four weapons she could have used against the ubiquitous coyote (fortunately, she has all her claws).
Her surgery was 11/13/2009. She is doing quite well now. The vet said she might still throw up for a while. Giving it time, the vomiting should disappear. I remain hopeful.
I got the total price for her surgery reduced from $480.00 to $275.00. Yippee!
Currently, my personal finances are quite taxed, several major expenses hitting me all at once. If anyone reading this feels like contributing to Panther's fund, it would help me keep going with this homeless cat care. Anything above the $275. which I receive goes into a savings fund which is exclusively for the medical expenses for our feral/abandoned ones. I never use that fund for my two indoor kitties.
There is a PayPal button in the panel at the right of the original blog post.
Another reason why I posted many details of Panther's health crisis is that I hope it can be of help to anyone reading this who cares for outdoor cats. Without a competant vet, the red at the base of a cat's teeth could be misdiagnosed as tooth decay. The vet says that sometimes cats get the Caleci virus from their mothers. And it is contageous among cats. I believe a cat can be vaccinated against Caleci with one of the routine cat vaccinations. But it's too late for that with Panther.
Here are some links if you want to read about the Caleci virus
http://www.cfa.org/articles/health/calici.html

And if you are willing please help me by copying my blog link and sending it to your cat loving friends who might not be in the cat blogosphere -

Thanks so much for reading this,

We here at House Panthers are praying for Panther, and sending HUGS and LOVE to Debby for helping this lovely kitty!
